It is a guilty pleasure to watch Resident Alien. In addition to the fact that Alan Tudyk stars, the SYFY channel has a startling skill. Despite having a smaller budget than most, they produce more entertaining shows than the majority of today’s higher-budget series. D’arcy was not shocked by Harry’s alien reveal at the end of season two, and since more people were aware of Harry’s true origin, the show went so far as to give nearly every major character their own alien experience. As the seasons progressed, more individuals discovered the truth, which makes me think of iZombie. Even while it was enjoyable to keep Harry’s secret a secret, it is a comfort that everyone is getting closer to knowing the truth. However, not all of the subplots achieved their shared objective by the end of the season. Where is the season four confirmation, SYFY channel? since that finale was just hilarious.
Although the third season was entertaining overall, there were a few shortcomings, so let’s address those immediately. In the first place, D’arcy’s frequent self-insertion seemed a bit superfluous. She is, of course, Asta’s best friend, but at times it seemed like D’arcy was doing everything that others blame her for, which is making things about herself. It seems a bit forced to even steal the bomb in order to board the Grey’s ship.
Additionally, Harry and Asta’s exchanges are among our favorite aspects of the show. We need more of it in season four, though, because their time together was much reduced this season. Maybe this reviewer is the only one who feels this way, but it seemed like Harry and Asta had a deeper relationship than just friendship over the previous two seasons, and that relationship sort of vanished in season three. We eventually want more Asta and Harry, but they attempted to inject a little extra romance between Asta and Joseph, who is a fantastic addition to the cast.
Though occasionally irksome, Harry’s new relationship with Heather, the Blue Avian, was good. However, the rapport between Sheriff Mike and Officer Lena was a positive development. Although the Sheriff frequently appears on the show as a humorous character, his connection with Lena gives him more depth and complexity. Furthermore, it has been pleasant to observe how naturally his connection with Deputy Liv has grown. Particularly when he went with her to face her grandmother. Liv is such a great character, and it’s good to see that she is no longer Mike’s pride.
In season three, there were a lot of humorous moments, but things eventually became serious. Though they haven’t always been on the same page, Ben and Kate’s plot with their kid and the Greys took a dark turn, and their shared objective helped them connect. Even though they didn’t seem to get along, this plotline brought them together.
The idea of a finding family is among the show’s most interesting and recurring themes. We learnt more about Jay and Asta. Although Asta’s mother is a bad model of a mother, she is surrounded by people who care about her, including her father, sister, and other family members. It’s a good message to promote, and the recurring theme seems to be that family is not determined by blood.
It’s encouraging to see Harry pursuing his humanity, and Alan Tudyk is a true gem. We discover that Harry is not only capable of falling in love, but also that he feels a feeling of obligation to his kid, even though he was effectively forced into that role. The sequence where Harry and Kate realized how important it was for Kate to remember her daughter was one of the season’s greatest. Although Harry is generally a humorous figure, it’s a wonderful moment when he becomes serious.
There was a HUGE cliffhanger at the end of the season, and I swear we need season four. Instantly. Resident Alien’s third season may be streamed in full of Peacock right now.
