The word “panchakarma” means five actions and refers to five procedures intended to intensively cleanse and restore balance to the body, mind, and emotions. Panchakarma is used by Ayurvedic physicians as a treatment of a wide variety of health conditions.
Vamana, Virechana, Nasyam, Vasthy, Rakthamoksham are the five procedures collectively termed as Panchakarma. Basically, panchakarma is meant to make an individual most receptive to the curative process of ayurveda by removing accumulated waste in body and mind.
In other words, It is the deep cleansing process, that enables the body to release excess toxins from its cells and expel them is called Panchakarma, which basically denotes detoxification or elimination of toxins from the body.
Ayurveda advises undergoing panchakarma at the seasonal changes to both keep the metabolism strong and keep toxins from accumulating in the body as well as the mind.
