These medical alarm are monitored 24 hours a day and are usually of the wireless kind. Medical alarms usually work anywhere where there is a phone line. Usually these are installed at the users home. These medical alarm devices are activated by switching on an emergency button during an emergency.

Once the system is activated the medical alarm sends out a signal enabling the emergency center to alert the emergency contacts that the user has programmed in the alarm system.
